My Bible reading plan this morning started with the Lord speaking to Job: “Brace yourself like a man (in general: a valiant person*), because I have some questions for you.” Job 40:7. This couldn’t be more appropriate for the introduction to this 21-day examination into our spiritual condition.
Physical eyesight is your ability to see, your eyes and brain the mechanisms through which we process information about surrounding environment. Vision involves three different things:
1. How accurately the cornea and lens focus incoming light onto the retina
2. The sensitivity of the nerves in the retina and vision center of the brain, the connection
3. The ability of the brain to interpret information received from the eye, the mind.
“Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is darkness, how deep that darkness is!” Matt. 6:22-23NLT
During these 21 days of searching for 20/20 spiritual vision, ask the Holy Spirit to help with accurate focus, to increase understanding(the connection), and to change the mindset, if needed. Journal. Find Scripture that applies and write it in your journal.
“Ears to hear and eyes to see— both are gifts from the Lord.” Prov. 20:12NLT
Thank you Father God that you have led us to seek You in a special way during these next 21 days. Speak to us as, you spoke to Jeremiah: “What do you see?” Jer.1:11. We ask for Your gift to see ourselves through Your eyes. Help us through it all to see You more clearly, that having the eyes of our hears enlightened we may know what is the hope to which You have called us, what are the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints.
“Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored, and he could see everything clearly.” Mark 8:25NLT
*Strongs Concordance 1397: a valiant man or warrior, gen: a person. simply: every one
