Today I had the privilege of opening our prayer time. This was what was shared.
The source of all we do must be Christ Himself, God the Father, and Holy Spirit. Our daily manna comes to us as both the logos (written Word) and the rhema (Spirit Word). Jesus even told us that we must worship “in Spirit and in truth” (John 4). We are each responsible to feed ourselves, responsible for what we take in and what we give out. We know what to take in, the Word of God, but what to give out is the test for all Christian media presenters.
None of us knows the fullness of what today will hold. Our desire is to do the will of God, but to know the will of God is the biggest challenge. Ps 57:2 tells us that we can “cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me” NLT. God has a purpose for me, for you, that He wants to fulfill today. Our part is to let him We can make our lists, but the wise woman will submit herself and those plans to God, giving Him permission to interrupt them. She has the confidence in trusting His accomplishments by the end of the day.
There’s something about attitude. We have often heard sayings like, “it’s better to do it right than to have to go back and make it right.” Or “do it right the first time” or “nothing to be learned from the second kick of a mule”. Everything we have learn to do, everything we bring to today (our upbringing, our giftings, our life experiences, hurts, losses, and blessings – everything) is important and helpful for the kingdom, but it can all be ruined by a wrong attitude. What comes out of our mouths is either a blessing or cursing. Even the name of Jesus can be a cursing when it comes from a wrong attitude.
One time, the disciples brought food and offered it to Jesus. At that time, he said, “My food is to do the will of the Father and to accomplish His work.” (John 4:34). Prov. 18:20 tells us “From the fruit of a man’s mouth, his stomach is satisfied; he is satisfied by the yield of his lips.” It’s not what we put into our mouths that gives us satisfaction as much as what comes out of our mouths. What is needed is a humble spirit and knowledge of the will of God.
Isaiah 50:4 has been a verse that has encouraged me as I have stepped into media:
“The Lord has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word, him who is weary. Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear those who are taught.” ESV
If you struggle to know God’s will for your ministry, your media, or this very day, you can take heart that God knows His will for you this very day. In this one verse, He has identified himself as
· The Sovereign Lord - your originator, creator
· the One who has given you your body, your tongue, your mind
· the Giver of “words of wisdom” – the Word of God
· the Giver of purpose - to comfort the weary
· He gives timing – awakens you every morning
· He gives you a way to receive his message - awakens your ears to hear
· He gives the Holy Spirit for His timing
· AND. He gives you adventure as you seek to find Him in your day
Father God, as we start our day, help us pray like Korah, David’s choir director,
who said in PS 45:1
“My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; (Korah was thinking of David, but we know King Jesus). My tongue (my medium) is the pen of a ready writer." NKJV
